To sleep or to workout?

Wow, just day two and i'm a bit down...yesterday night i told my parents about my plans with the marathon and they didn't seem the least bit excited. Didn't tell my friends yet, i guess i will just wait until i'm sure that i'm doing it and that i won't come in last or something.
Woke up bright and shiny at 6 today (i have classes really early) and went from school directly to the gym...where i only bike for 20 minutes, because i felt so tired. Today was supposed to be a rest day, so it's not like i did any damage to my training, but i can only hope that it will be better tomorrow, when i'm supposed to run for an hour..
Oh well, on a happier note, i did eat healthier today:) seems that motivation is doing me well.

First workout

Just had my first workout! it was definitely harder than i imagined, never ran 4 miles before...today, i did 4.28 miles in about 54 minutes. Kind of slow, i know, but i'm still proud of myself for breaking my distance record...
Tomorrow i'm doing cross training, i'm thinking a bit of cycling and some walking, maybe some weight training-depends on the time i have, might get homework.
I'm also quite proud of my eating today, definitely better than yesterday.

B: 2 nectarines, snickers (have been craving this for a while)
post-run snack-chocolate milk
L: 2 crispy strips (bad, i know :P)some mashed potatoes and cherry tomatoes...and a cheese puff pastry i baked myself
s: peanut butter oatmeal bar (might post the recipe soon)
s: banana, cappuccino
D: cottage cheese, red pepper,nectarine

-everything for about 1700 calories. Hope i'm getting better!

Goals and expectations

I can admit that the first thing that came to my mind when i decided to do the marathon was to win. Especially since the prize is 3000 euros. But that was until i saw that last year, 6000 persons competed in this marathon. And the winner did it in 2 hours and 17 minutes.
Now, i'm not vain enough to think that i can beat that, but i still have some goal for this marathon and for the training before:
  • To be in the first 10%. This means, to be between the first 600 to pass the finish line
  • To know i did my best. No matter if i finish in 2 hours or 6, i want to know that i did my best, that i didn't slow down just because i was a bit tired, etc.
  • To train everyday. Not run everyday, that is, but do something towards my goal everyday. Even if it is a good walk.
  • To eat well. No one did a marathon eating pizza and chips. Lately, i've eaten really bad, which is why i want to start eating healthier in order to train better. No more 12 am pizzas for me
  • To post everyday. I started this blog to keep myself accountable, and this is what i will do. No excuses
This will be it for the moment...i'm sure i will have more to add later, but now i have some reading to do. And a training plan to chose.

Coming to light

Hello there! I'm Julie, i'm 17, and i could tell you a ton about me. I like to talk. Bake. Write. Smile. Read. But that's not what my blog is about. My blog will be about RUNNING.
I started running a couple of months ago, because...well, because i've always been sporty, and eager to try new things. I didn't like it at the beginning, but then i started enjoying it. A lot. So last week, i decided it was time to look for a short race, in order to see what i'm really made of. Ironically, the only one i did find in my town was a MARATHON. That's right. I laughed, and said no thanks. But you see, the thing about me is that my pride is huge. So when i told a friend about this race and the fact that i wasn't going to do it and she laughed at me, i didn't give it a second thought and i signed in. And the thing is, i'm really happy about it now. Because i love to see my limits.
So what will this blog be about? My traing plan, balancing it with school family, friends...whatever else happens in a teenager's life. And, hopefully, it will be about how good i did at my first marathon. But we'll see about that.
